Disability is a condition it is not who anyone is! We all have abilities that need to shine and have a voice… Great work Mia, you are an Inspiration to us all.

I think you are beautiful, how do you maintain such a beautiful youthful skin? What is your skincare regimen, no sun exposure much?

  15. miszsam says:

imperfections are always hard to deal w/ as a child but i feel growing up, you deal w/ less immature and more understanding adults that, hopefully, grow to accept people’s character and surpasses their physical imperfections. i was a fat kid. i mean if back in the days, i obesity was considered, i’d be the first to be diagnosed, children aren’t too accommodating to differences but as we grow older, i guess the purpose we choose to surround ourselves helps eliminate the pain we get.

i haven’t seen it yet cuz it was pretty late last night. but i knew about the polio and the shorter leg thing since grade 7. some mutual frnds of ours would call Yen some terrible names like a-polio 13 and etc. and it infuriated me so i refused to take part in the namecalling.

Kristine, Thanks for sharing this with your audience. It took a lot of courage and strength, but you did it! You are very different, in the fact that you can see the good in things. Not everyone can do that. You’re right, instead of thinking of “what if”s, why not look at the bright side and appreciate things more? It takes a good person to be able to have that perspective. This tells everyone a lot about you. I hope that I’m able to have that perspective as well. stay beautiful :)

  27. SkylineToTheSeaAndMe says:

I watched this from beginning to end, because it was captivating. Like you said, we all have our own struggles and disabilites and I certainly have mine. I think no matter how difficult the situation (or not), the thing that keeps us going is faith, and the hope that things will get better; that we will be able to realize our dreams. For without that hope and faith, we have nothing. You are not your leg.
You are the limitless talent that graces us with your presence on YouTube and elsewhere.

  28. CDMI2010 says:

    Bold and sincere… :-)

Thank you for sharing your story with is. IT IS AN INCREDIBLE journey you’ve been through. I cried, as I do with each of your interviews, & especially this interview, was not any different. Thanks again & keep doing what you do best–share with us your humble soul through your creativity. By the way, when I listened to your English music back then, I’ve always wondered why you weren’t singing VNmese, being chi Tam Doan’s sister & all. Now you’re a big part of the VN-Americans movement! -Annie
